IN HER EYES - Pointing In The Mirror

Anytime a person can describe in detail what they love most about being held in their lovers arms, it's safe to say that they think of them often. So why has her lover raise the question of infidelity so frequently? I noticed her eyes light up while  reminiscing about how safe she feels when held close and how soothing it is to hear her lover call her Bae. She recalls how joyful the children are when she is happy.  In her eyes all is well. Somehow the financial struggles and disappointments in life can be overcome.

In her eyes, memories faded to red. Today she was accused of sleeping with her coworker. Earlier this week it was a friend and last week the neighbor. Each accusation preceded verbal abuse. Getting cursed out and  minimized to nothing became almost normal. Her eyes filled with pain and confusion as she described how it felt to hear him call her "worthless."  Just last night they made love. How could these words come from the one she loved so dearly? The emptiness left her longing for his attention, longing to be held again and called Bae.

There was a strange knock at the door. She felt stomach sickness as she called his attention to the stranger who knew him by name. Suddenly, things became clearer. It was he who was unfaithful. I saw the rage in her eyes.
